Since I got hold of my G1 I have had the chance to try out a lot of good and even more bad apps all available in the Android marketplace.

One app that I am totally impressed with is SMS popup. This app is based on a simple idea that the iPhone has implemented from the start. When you receive an SMS pop up a window with the text on it so you can see at a glance what the message is, and then reply if you wish or simply dismiss.

On the G1 this app just got a superb update so you can now let it handle notifications, including a custom LED colour, and reminders where you have unread SMS’s in your inbox.

It’s a simple app but extremely handy. This is why I love Android, and appreciate developers who put the time in to produce great apps like this.
